November 2025

Pensions, auto-enrolment, and more wisdom from our 97 Ways Ebook.

Welcome to the November edition of HTH Accountants’ monthly newsletter! We send this out every month with news for our clients and friends about financial news and events in Ireland. It seems to be all about the pensions this winter, with auto-enrolment looming, but we have some good advice coming from our 97 Ways Ebook as well. And whatever you need, we’re available to help on (01) 541 1446.

Rising Payroll Costs: The Profitability Challenge Coming in January 2026

New research from FRS Recruitment has shown just how concerned Irish businesses are about the financial impact of pension auto-enrolment in 2026. With the State’s new My Future Fund scheme due to begin on 1 January, more than 75% of employers believe the changes will reduce their profitability next year.

CCPC Research Shows Pension Concerns

New research from the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) has shown a concerning trend in pension planning across Ireland: more adults are reaching mid-life and beyond without any retirement strategy in place. According to the study, 26% of Irish adults have no retirement plan at all – an increase on previous years – and many of those who do have a pension lack confidence in its ability to support them later in life.

How Presence and Awareness Strengthen Leadership

As a business owner or leader, you influence everyone around you. Whether you intend to or not, your behaviour, attitude, and energy set the tone for your entire organisation. Your team takes cues from you — in how you handle challenges, celebrate wins, and treat others. Your influence extends far beyond what you say; it’s reflected in what you do every day.

Become an Industry Expert: The One-Hour-a-Day Rule That Works

Ted Nicholas, one of the world’s most successful direct marketers, once said that if you spend just one hour a day reading about a single topic for one year, you can become a leading expert on that topic. It sounds simple - and it is - but it’s also profoundly true. Focused, consistent learning compounds over time. In a world full of information, most people consume knowledge at random: a podcast here, an article there, a video half-watched between meetings. But those who choose a single topic and go deep build an advantage that’s hard to match.
